Breathe in drinks actually is the bad habit and should be avoided but some of us do not realize it. What suppose to do is every time stop drinking navigate breathing elsewhere & drink slowly to avoid breathe in drinks.
Drinks is H2O. When we blow it, we give our excretions gas containing carbon dioxide which is C02. When water mixed with carbon dioxide gas it will react and produce carbonic acid which is acidic.
H2O + CO2 -> H2CO3
In our blood was found H2CO3 useful to organize pH in blood. Blood is Buffer (solution to maintain pH) to maintain the weak acid condition in H2CO3 in form HCO3 to ensure the blood has a pH of between 7:35 to 7:45 with the following reaction:
CO2 + H20 <= H2CO3 => HCO3- + H+
Body using pH buffer in the blood as a protector from the changes that occur suddenly in blood pH. When there is a change, it may cause blood pH balance can not be maintained in the normal state whether it is more acidic or alkaline and this would interfere with the system.
What happens after drinking is it will increase the acidity of blood and cause a condition where the blood will become more acidic (pH decreased). Along with the decrease in blood pH, breathing becomes more rapid as the body attempts to stabilize blood acidity in normal phase by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide.
The kidneys are also trying to overcome the problem by issuing more acid through urine. But both mechanisms would be useless if the body continues to produce too much acid. In long-term it will cause asthma, drowsiness, nausea and thinking problems due to the body can not function properly. Until it can cause low blood pressure, stroke, and even can cause coma and death.
Apart from that, the human exhaled air content bacteria. Therefore, try to avoid breathe into drinks. Similar think happen stated in this article.
